Ph.D. positions at RWTH Aachen University

The International Research Training Group "MIP" [1] at RWTH Aachen University (Germany) has immediate openings for fully-funded Ph.D. positions in the areas of high-performance computing and automation, with focus on 1) matrix and tensor operations, and/or 2) performance modelling. These positions are part of a collaboration between RWTH Aachen University, Umeå University (Sweden), and The University of Texas at Austin (US). Research stays at all institutions are expected (COVID permitting).

The appointments --at the payscale TVL-13 (about 4050 Euros/month gross at the entry level [2])-- will be initially for one year, and will be extended for two extra years upon positive evaluation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge in new subjects quickly and independently.
  • Proficiency in C or C++. Knowledge of other languages (such as Python, Julia, Fortran, Mathematica, Matlab) is a plus.
  • Ability to work productively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
