    In the first installement of the "Sustainable Scientific Software Sessions with Snacks" (S5) I present a hands on workshop on Git. Git is a distributed version-control system for tracking changes in source code during software development. In the spirit of the S5, I demonstrate how it can be used to develop and manage scientific source code, both individually and as a team.
